A Walk in the Sunshine
It was so gloriously sunny this morning that Little Treasure and I headed straight out to take advantage of the cheerfulness of it all. We thought you might like to see some of the sights that we saw along the way...
Magnolia trees are in full bloom all over the place. I just love them, they're so delicate.
Beautiful blossom.
There's a road near us that's always awash with daffodils at this time of year...there are literally hundreds if them on each side of the road.
I think there's something really appealing about old street signs. Here's just one that we walked by today.
We often pass this window box on our travels to and from town, playgroup etc and I've designated it my favourite floral display!
Our local area is bursting with lots of appealing architectural features (well, I think they are anyway!)
Not quite as much fun as the Vintage and Handmade Fairs, but there are always interesting things to look at in the window!
We past some beautiful houses...here's just one of them.
We even learnt something new about our local area.
I thought this was a particularly appealing doorway!
Every time I see this piece of graffiti on the side wall of one of our local butcher's shops it makes me smile.
We hope you've enjoyed seeing glimpses from our sunny walk...have lovely weekends one and all and enjoy the sunshine!

Happy Days
From the moment I booked my place on the very first Hen's Teeth workshop I was like a child waiting for Christmas. I'm such a fan of Viv's work and the thought of a whole day learning all sorts of new things was just too exciting for words! Last Saturday (10th) the day itself finally arrived and Mum and I motored off to Weston Park for a day of stitchery indulgence.
It was an absolutely brilliant day from start to finish. We drank tea, ate cake and learned all sorts of new techniques. It was lovely to spend the whole day with Viv too - she's such an inspiration.
Here's my first brooch in the early stages of stitching. It was such a treat to have a whole day to be creative and to be with other lovely people who enjoy fabric and textiles as much as I do. We learnt so much - new blogs to follow, names of artists we hadn't heard of before and, of course, lots of new textiles techniques.
We were in the old carpenter's workshop. Here it is after everyone had gone for lunch. We had a wonderful time rummagaing through Viv's boxes of fabric, threads and ephemera looking for inpiration and things we could add to our brooches.
The day went by far too quickly! Here are our finished creations.
I love the fact that we all had the same bits and pieces to work with, yet they all turned out to be so different.

Here are my two finished brooches. I had such a fabulous time making them. Thank you Viv for a wonderful day of creative indulgence!

Be Inspired
I've become a bit of a fan of Yellow Owl Workshop's designs so I got very excited when I found out they've published a book - Print Workshop by Christine Schmidt (published by Potter Craft, £14.99, ISBN 978 03075 86544).
I love vintage ephemera. I can't really explain why, but I'm drawn letters, stamps and bits of old scribbled on paper like a moth to a flame! For this reason alone I absolutely love Scraps by Elsebeth Gynther and Christine Clemmensen (published by Lark, £12.99, ISBN 978 16005 93864). It's a feast of inspiration for using all sorts of mixed media to create fabulous collages.
Books have always had a happy prescence in my life - I have fond memories from childhood of the hours spent seeking out gems in second hand bookshops, I've worked in publishing, I've always had shelves of treasured books of my own and my Dad is a very keen (and accomplished) bookbinder. So when I saw Making Handmade Books by Alisa Golden I thought it would be a great excuse to try some book making for myself (published by Lark, £14.99, ISBN 978 16005 95875).With so many books to look through and be inspired by, it's a job to find the time to tear myself away from them and actually make something! Still, at least now I have lots of ideas. I hope you've been inspired too...go on, make yourself a cuppa, give yourself a little time off and indulge in some creativity!
