I've always loved keeping journals. When I was little I'd write about all the things I got up to each day. Nowadays, I often start the year with good intentions of writing something every day, but this isn't always possible...sometimes nothing very noteworthy happens, or I find myself engrossed in life and don't quite find the time to put pen to paper.
I found this fabric covered journal in the Waterstone's sale and just couldn't leave it on the shelf! The pages aren't lined and it got me thinking about the possibilities of creating a visual (rather than written) journal.
"What a great way to use, amongst other things, some of the vintage ephemera I've collected from junk shops and at French brocantes", I thought to myself...
...and so I've started creating a little work of art each day. I think I'll become bolder and braver as the days go on (I'm still finding my creative feet at the moment).
I often link the images I use with what I've done that day. As you can probably tell, we're currently going through a bit of redecoration here at Treasure Towers.

Yep, visual journals are so cool and as you say the more you do, the braver you get. I don't know if you've seen some cool books that are out there on the subject. If you link to my blog I list some of my favourites if you'd like to take a look.

What a wonderful way to record your days. And what fun to play with scissors and glue sticks on a daily basis, too! As the months progress you'll have a very visual daily record of the development of your creativity - what a precious piece of history for you in the years to come!

that is a lovely idea, my trouble is that I jump from book to journal and diary I can't seem to get settled! I am doing a 'childhood' scrapbook though..I have been meaning to do it before I forget everything!

well I'm loving this idea - and what with all the blog writing, a visual diary sounds just what I need! Brilliant, thanks Katie, will make one myself too... play school all over a again (but far nicer). Love Helen x
That's a lovely idea for recording your year. I have found that blogging makes me photograph my makes and my world, and then I have a record of what I have been doing - it's a great antidote to that 'I haven't achieved anything feeling'!
